What Makes Moleskine So Special?

The pocket-sized Moleskine notebook costs about $12 US and the larger ones approach $20 US. So why would you pay that kind of money for just another pad of paper? Where as a spiral-bound pocket notebook can be had for less than a buck at most stores?
Before I give you my reasons, let me say that there are a plenty of worthwhile alternatives to Moleskines, some extremely close-enough knock-offs and others just taking a different approach to notebook design. I’m not as much wed to a “brand” as I am into the design. But the Moleskine is one of the consistent suppliers of that design. Most of what I say to describe a Moleskine, though, can be applied to any other random “luxury” notebook with similar style.
So I penned down 5 good reasons explaining why exactly should you shell out your hard-earned dough on a double-digit priced notebooks:
1.   They are durable, with their semi-hard and vinyl covers, the Moleskine notebook stands up to the rigors of the back pocket and our usually overstuffed bags better than most other notebooks. And they are for one far better than anything spiral-bound.
2.   Moleskine notebooks are book-bound. Because they are bound like books, and are easy to store on a bookshelf for an easy reference, or even to stack for storage. Plus the rigid covers give a strong support against which you can write easily, no matter where you are.

3.   Okay, accepting that a Moleskine notebook is expensive. That might not seem like a plus to you, but hear me out. That just makes it a lot more to treat it with proper care unlike you would bother with a usual spiral-bound notebook anyway. You know it! You might as well accept the fact!
4.   The moleskine book makes you feel frigging fancy. They just feel good to use and the paper takes ink nicely, and it is a pleasant cream-colour which is easy on the eyes and lends richness to your writing. The covers are soft and smooth. All these things are important, even if not purely essential.
5.   If you actually think about it a Moleskine notebook is actually kind of affordable. Don’t forget that the Moleskine comes in different styles, including the specialized notebooks for sketching, watercolour painting, and other specialties.

Like any other luxury product as such, the Moleskine or similar notebooks are not necessarily apt for everyone. But for many, they will fill a pressing need for style and functionality for sure, and if I am right that’s no little thing, no little thing at all!
